1862年印度新金山中国渣打银行100元正反面试印样票，手写日期1862年7月8日，罕有。 The Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, $100, uniface obverse and reverse proofs, 1862, Black and white, supported arms upper centre, $100 left and right. Hong Kong and Yi Bai Yuan (One Hundred Dollars) within borders, Handwritten date July 8 1862 at lower left.The reverse black and white, 100 within vignette, handwritten date Dec 20 1862 lower left.A Batho, Sprague and Co. printing.An exceptionally rare and important $100 note dating to the initial preparations for the first Chartered Bank issue for Hong Kong, which ultimately appeared late in 1862.When the first $100 notes appeared in circulation is not known but likely early to mid-1863. A superb proof pair of the obverse and reverse, by Batho, Sprague and Co., London.(Pick 25p1, 25p2), PMG 63 and 62 (Previously Mounted, Annotations). This is the earliest-dated evidence of any design for the newly established Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China, todays Standard Chartered Bank.At present it is the only recorded example of this note in private hands, with no issued, cancelled, or specimen notes being known.The specimen example illustrated by Boon as his KNB5 is indicated to be part of the Hong Kong Museum of History collection.
